Raissa Bump

Raïssa Bump spent hours making beaded jewelry and weaving. She later went on to study jewelry at Rhode Island School of Design and Alchmia School of Contemporary Jewelry in Florence, Italy. Since graduating, Raïssa has had her own studio, making mostly jewelry and a little knitwear. She exhibits her jewelry in galleries across the country and is skilled at making both intricate one-of-a-kind pieces and beautiful edition collections. She brings observations of patterns in architecture, nature, and textiles into pieces and focuses on the distant view as well as the detail. Raïssa is committed to sharing what she knows with others and teaches workshops around the country at places like Penland School of Crafts. In 2008 she completed a yoga teacher training with Ana Forrest and is actively teaching a ‘stretches for makers’ workshop in both the classroom and workplace setting. This workshop brings to the attention of makers the importance of taking care of their hands, eyes, neck etc. so that they can relieve physical stresses of their work and continue their creative practice pain and injury free. Raïssa is on the board of the Art Jewelry Forum and lives and works in a storefront space close to the beach in San Francisco.
From Raïssa :

Sharing what I know with others is a joy in my life. There is a spark that flares big when one taps into their creativity. It is rewarding to witness this. I travel to teach workshops at schools such as Penland School of Crafts and Haystack Mountain School. I teach privates out of my studio. If you are a maker and want to know how to stretch your wrists, hands, eyes, shoulder, neck…so that you can continue making into the future I can educate you on some simple stretches to do while at your workbench (visit RESET, to learn more.) If you are a maker and want to tap in to your center of creativity I teach yoga classes that can tune you in to that insight. Whether it be jewelry, knitting, yoga or any combination thereof I am a passionate and patient instructor, believing that when open yourself up to learn there is a strength and Beauty that is evident in the mist of challenges and vulnerabilities.
